ByteDance is breaking up Feishu. The company is splitting its workplace collaboration app between two of its biggest bets: the product side goes to Doubao, and the sales side goes to Volcano Engine.
Feishu's product team will merge with Doubao's product team to form a new Doubao product team. Feishu head Xie Xin will now report to Doubao head Zhao Qi.
Feishu's sales, marketing, and customer service teams, meanwhile, are being folded into Volcano Engine, ByteDance's cloud and AI infrastructure arm. Together, the two sides will form a new enterprise commercialization unit called the 'Creativity Service Platform' to handle ByteDance's MaaS, SaaS, and other enterprise services. The new unit will be led by Volcano Engine head Tan Dai.
After the restructure, Feishu's existing products and services will remain unchanged. Doubao Enterprise Edition, which the Feishu team helped develop, is already being tested with select Feishu customers. The product can call on Feishu documents, group chats, meetings, and enterprise knowledge to carry out complex tasks.
