Nubia's NaviX Ultra, the 'world's first AI agent phone,' launches September 16

Nubia has set a launch date for the NaviX Ultra: September 16 at 2 p.m. The phone ships with the Doubao phone assistant, and the company is calling it "the world's first AI agent smartphone."

That puts it a clear step beyond last year's M153, which was more of an engineering prototype released in limited quantities. The NaviX Ultra, by contrast, is a fully mass-produced flagship.

The main selling point remains letting AI actually operate the phone. Nubia describes the assistant's abilities as "understands you, gets things done, remembers, and stays safe." Tell the phone what you want, and it handles the multi-step actions itself.

NaviX Ultra has already completed the relevant large-model registration and received its network access license from MIIT, China's telecom regulator, on September 1.

There's also a bigger change from the M153. Chinese outlet LatePost previously reported that the new phone is reworking how it works with super apps from Alibaba and Tencent. Instead of relying on reading the screen and simulating taps to force its way into apps, the assistant will wait for apps to proactively open up their interfaces before it can plug in. That's the unavoidable problem Doubao's phone assistant needs to solve before it can truly go to commercial scale.

Pre-orders are already open, but hardware specs, pricing, and sale details won't be revealed until the launch event.
