Apple quietly registers genai.apple.com subdomain ahead of WWDC26

Apple has registered a new subdomain — genai.apple.com — that points directly at its generative AI ambitions. The move comes just weeks before the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC26), which kicks off on June 8, 2026.

Apple already operates a dedicated page for its personal AI system, Apple Intelligence, at apple.com/apple-intelligence/. That makes the purpose of genai.apple.com unclear — will it host a separate website, or redirect to something new? As of now, the URL returns nothing.

But the timing is telling. Apple has said it will reveal “advancements in AI” at WWDC26. Apple-focused site 9to5Mac noted the subdomain is “almost certainly related” to next-generation AI announcements at the conference.

And those announcements could be big. Apple is expected to release iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 at WWDC26, along with a slew of new Apple Intelligence features. The star of the show might be a “fully rebuilt Siri” — one that becomes a standalone app and evolves into an AI agent capable of crossing tasks between multiple apps. Rumors also suggest the new Siri will include auto-deleting chat history.

Apple also just announced several accessibility features powered by Apple Intelligence, giving the AI platform a broader role ahead of WWDC.

Alibaba's recent launch of Qianwen Cloud, a website built specifically for AI agents, shows the industry is racing to stake out territory in this space. And if Siri does become a full AI agent, it will face competition from offerings like Grok Imagine's Agent Mode, which recently arrived on iOS with multi-step image generation and character-consistency features.
