ByteDance's AI run rate hits $4B, topping China's AI startups
ByteDance's large-model business has hit an annualized recurring revenue of $4 billion, according to the South China Morning Post, citing people familiar with the matter. That puts it at the top of China's AI companies, based on currently public figures.
For comparison: Alibaba is at around $1.5 billion, Zhipu AI at roughly $1 billion, DeepSeek close to $500 million, and Moonshot AI about $300 million. ByteDance has clearly opened up a significant revenue gap with its domestic rivals.
But ARR is an estimate based on current revenue momentum, not money already banked. And even at that pace, ByteDance's AI revenue is still far below OpenAI and Anthropic.
