ByteDance is taking its AI assistant Doubao upmarket with a new Pro tier starting at 68 yuan. Built on the company's freshly released Doubao 2.1 series models, the paid plan targets users juggling complex office and productivity workflows, and it packs bigger usage limits along with something called Office Task Mode.
The new mode is the first version of Doubao that can actually operate your computer — after you give it explicit permission, of course. It can open local apps, steer your browser, and work with local files to organize research, process documents, fill out spreadsheets, and even handle cross-app automation like publishing scheduled posts to Weibo on your behalf.
Office Task Mode also has an Office suite built in, with support for online documents, spreadsheets, and PPT. It's basically Doubao putting on business casual and clocking in.
