Kimi just restructured its personal membership, and the change is making things a lot pricier for anyone who wants both web access and its coding features. The AI company unbundled its Code plan into a separate subscription, and the cheapest combination now costs 228% more per year.
Previously, the Andante plan at 468 yuan per year included web, app, and basic Code access. Now, to get the same functionality, you need the Go plan (for web/app) and the Starter plan (for coding), totaling 1,536 yuan. That's 3.28 times the old price.
For pure coding users, the calculus is more complex. The new Starter plan is the same price as the old Moderato at 99 yuan per month, but it no longer includes web and app access. And if you need the fast tier with 1 million context windows, the monthly cost jumps from 199 yuan (old Allegretto) to 299 yuan (new Explorer), a roughly 50% increase.
Kimi says the new Code plans remove monthly token caps, so for the same price you get more tokens. But the company hasn't disclosed absolute token numbers, making it impossible to tell if the extra tokens compensate for the removed general benefits and price hikes.
Existing users aren't forced to migrate; old plans can still be renewed. So if you're on an old plan, there's no reason to switch yet.
