Kimi is scrambling to clean up its messaging mess. In a follow-up to its controversial subscription overhaul, the AI assistant told user groups that old subscribers can keep their current plans — and even those who manually canceled auto-renewal will be able to re-subscribe to their original tier.
Old plans (like the 199 yuan tier) can also be upgraded to higher tiers (699 yuan) down the line. But don't start clicking yet: both the restore and upgrade features are still under development.
New subscription plans remain paused. Kimi admits it botched the original announcement with confusing explanations and a janky interface, and says it will redesign the plans based on user feedback. No timeline for reinstating the new plans — computing power constraints remain a bottleneck.
