A report from Leiphone confirms that Shi Kaiwen, former product vice president at Feishu (the Chinese version of Lark), has left to start a new venture. The project is focused on an on-device AI agent — meaning the AI runs locally on a device rather than relying on cloud servers. The core team is mostly assembled, including a well-known professor from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and members recruited from ByteDance and the university itself.
On the funding side, Sequoia China and Jinqiu Fund have participated in the early investment round, which is moving along smoothly. This marks another major early-stage bet in the on-device AI agent space in recent years.
During his tenure at Feishu, Shi Kaiwen was responsible for product direction and eventually rose to VP. He was deeply involved in steering Feishu's transformation into an AI-powered collaboration tool and represented the company at the Boao Forum for Asia this past March. For now, the name of the new company and its specific product remain under wraps.
