Browser Use CLI 3.0 lets AI run Python scripts to control your browser

Web automation tool Browser Use has released CLI version 3.0, moving away from the traditional single-step tool-calling approach—where AI browser agents click, type, wait, and generate again—to a script-direct execution model built on the open-source Browser Harness.

In this new mode, AI coding assistants like Claude Code can run a full Python script from the terminal. The script runs locally and connects directly to the browser via CDP (Chrome DevTools Protocol), supporting loop logic and automatic error recovery without needing to call a large model back and forth for every simple action. This design shrinks the tool interface's prompt size to one-sixth of its previous size, dramatically reducing token consumption and operation latency.

The new tool offers three connection modes: by default it takes over the user's locally running Chrome browser (preserving existing cookies, extensions, and login states), but it also supports headless cloud browsers or connecting to any CDP debugging port.

By installing this skill, AI coding assistants can directly run local scripts to perform web testing, auto form filling, data scraping, and other tasks, blurring the line between terminal development and web operations.
