Arga Labs has raised a $10 million seed round led by General Catalyst, with BoxGroup, Emergence, Gradient, and SV Angel participating. The four-person Y Combinator startup builds test sandboxes for AI agents — isolated environments that replicate Slack, GitHub, Salesforce, Stripe, and other software so agents can practice before they ever touch the real thing.
Traditional testing usually just fakes a few API responses, which misses a lot of surprises. Arga goes further, replicating data states, account permissions, webhooks, and error conditions inside the software. A sales agent, for example, can work across test versions of Salesforce and HubSpot at the same time and see whether it recognizes that two contacts belong to the same company — before it sends duplicate emails.
Arga says it supports more than 30 types of software today, and can replicate a SaaS backend's behavior in under 12 hours. Over the past 16 weeks, customers have spun up over 100,000 test environments. Teams at Slash, Monaco, and Y Combinator are using it.
The new funding will go toward automating environment creation. Arga is developing a generative system that could compress the time it takes to clone a SaaS from hours to minutes. Eventually, the company wants an agent to discover a new API and have the system automatically generate a matching test environment — so the agent can iterate there before ever getting near production.
