Blacksmith's valuation jumps close to 10x as AI code testing takes off

AI can write code faster than you can verify it, and the market is catching on. Blacksmith, an AI-powered code testing company, has closed a $45 million Series B at a $550 million valuation. Peak XV Partners led the round, with existing backers GV and Y Combinator following on.

Less than a year ago, Blacksmith raised at a $60 million valuation. That's nearly a 10x jump. Customers have grown just as fast, climbing from 700 to over 5,000.

Blacksmith originally focused on helping developers build and test code more quickly. Now it's introducing Codesmith Agent, which automatically fixes failing tests. As AI generates code at an accelerating pace, testing and validation are becoming the new bottleneck.
