OpenAI is reportedly aiming to release its next flagship model, Astra, next week. Leaker Leo says Astra comes from an entirely new pretraining run, making it the biggest model OpenAI has trained since GPT-4.5.
According to Leo, the latest internal test version of Astra — codenamed 'mewfour' — has been promoted to release candidate status. OpenAI has confirmed that Astra is its next major model, and internal versions have reportedly pushed forward on 10 long-standing unsolved problems in math and theoretical computer science.
