OpenAI core product lead Thibault Sottiaux is hinting that Codex could hit a new growth milestone tomorrow. He says he's watching backend data: "There might be a new record worth celebrating," and tells everyone to "Hold on to your Codex."
That message has essentially been read by the community as the next credit reset signal. Tibo has a history of topping up users' credits whenever Codex hits a user-growth milestone. In mid-August, when Codex crossed 15 million active users, he reset credits on the spot. A week later, after it passed 20 million, he handed out another self-claimable credit reset to both Codex and ChatGPT Work users.
If the pattern of roughly 5 million new users per cycle holds, this one is likely gunning for 25 million active users.
