MiniMax is rolling out a desktop update for MiniMax Code 2.0 with a rebuilt foundation. The new version is based on the open-source Pi Agent framework, which now handles session runtime, state management, and tool invocation. The goal: fix the long-task headaches — waiting, freezes, and context interruptions. According to the company, startup is faster, and the app is more stable when reading through large amounts of material, calling tools, and modifying files.
The update also improves chart and file previews. Users can view charts full screen, zoom in, and download them, and edit files directly from the preview pane. The financial module now hooks into Hang Seng's financial database and Qichacha (a Chinese business data platform) via MCP, and it's available to try in the web version. MiniMax says remote control support is on the way later this month.
