Cursor just shipped version 3.11 with a sidebar chat and searchable conversation history. Now you can spin up a secondary chat that inherits context from your main Agent while that agent keeps working — no need to pause or interrupt. It’s great for asking follow-ups, digging up references, or testing out ideas on the side. The sidebar chat sticks around permanently, and you can @-mention to pull content back into the main conversation.
The update also makes it easier to find past Agent conversations. Hit Cmd+K to search through thousands of chat records indexed locally, or use Cmd+F to search within the active conversation.
Meanwhile, the cloud Agent gains a new set of hooks. Developers can trigger actions at stages like prompt submission, model response, reasoning, sub-agent launch, or task halt — useful for monitoring, controlling sub-agents, or setting up automatic error correction.
