Sequoia backs Preview's $12M play to be the 'Cursor for video'

August 13, 2026 | Source: t | AI, Developer | 145 views 0 comments

AI video production platform Preview has raised $12 million in total funding. The General Partnership led a $2 million pre-seed round, and six months later Sequoia came in to lead a $10 million seed round.

Preview's whole pitch is about putting AI generation squarely inside the professional filmmaking workflow. Think of it as an AI video production command center: scripts, storyboards, shot lists, AI generation, review, and feedback all live in the same workspace. Teams can call on multiple models at once, while keeping characters, scenes, and props consistent. Every shot also logs who generated it, which model was used, and what parameters were set.

Sequoia's take is that AI video is missing exactly this — a 'Cursor for video.' More than 100 studios are already using Preview, including agencies that make ads for Fortune 500 companies and Hollywood film crews. Another 3,000 studios are on the waitlist.

Sequoia shared the news in a post about partnering with Preview.
