Anthropic is adding a built-in browser to the Claude Code desktop app. Developers can now open technical documentation, design mockups, GitHub issues, and other websites right inside the terminal. The Claude agent can read the page, click buttons, fill in forms, and interact with external websites just like it does with local projects.
The first time Claude tries to interact with a site, it will ask for permission — once, always, or deny. Even after granting authorization, you'll still need to handle purchases, account sign-ups, and CAPTCHAs yourself.
The built-in browser uses its own configuration and doesn't access your personal browser's login state or history. If you want Claude to use an existing account, you'll still need the Claude in Chrome extension.
Developers can now research, compare designs, test pages, and continue editing code all in the same window, cutting down on alt-tabbing between editor and browser.
