X has officially launched an MCP server, opening the door for AI agents to natively read and write tweets. The move was announced by Chris Park, head of X's developer platform, who revealed four major upgrades to the X API.
- The new pay-per-use pricing model is now live globally, replacing the old fixed monthly subscription.
- The XMCP Server and xurl command-line tool allow AI agents to directly call over 150 X API endpoints via the MCP protocol.
- X released official Python and TypeScript SDKs (XDK), automatically generated from the OpenAPI specification using Rust.
- The API Playground has launched, providing an interactive environment for developers to test endpoints.
