Stripe is in talks to acquire OpenRouter, an AI model aggregator, for close to $10 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the Journal reports a deal may be announced soon — though negotiations could still fall through, and other bidders could emerge.
OpenRouter's pitch is simple: one API that lets developers call and switch between more than 400 AI models. Its website says the platform currently serves more than 10 million users and processes over 200 trillion tokens per month.
OpenRouter was valued at just $1.3 billion this past May. A $10 billion deal would be nearly eight times that valuation — in only two months.
