OpenRouter, the AI model aggregation platform, is reportedly in talks to sell itself to a large tech company at a valuation that could reach tens of billions of dollars, according to people familiar with the matter. The potential buyer hasn't been disclosed, and the startup's founding team hasn't responded to inquiries.

OpenRouter lets developers access over 400 AI models from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google through a single API, and switch between them based on price and performance.

The company just closed a $113 million funding round in May at a $1.3 billion valuation. By April, its annualized revenue had hit $50 million — a fivefold increase since October. Its weekly token processing volume also surged from 5 trillion to 25 trillion tokens over six months.

No buyer or deal terms have been made public, and it's unclear whether the sale will go through.
