Meta Reportedly Developing an AI Clone of CEO Mark Zuckerberg

Meta, the parent company of social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, has been heavily investing in artificial intelligence. The company already offers a tool called AI Studio that lets users create their own AI chatbots. Now, reports suggest Meta is developing an "AI clone" of its founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

The AI Clone Project

According to sources familiar with the matter, Meta is working on building photorealistic 3D characters powered by AI. As part of this effort, the company is prioritizing the development of an AI character modeled after Zuckerberg.

The AI clone is reportedly being trained on Zuckerberg's mannerisms, speech patterns, public statements, and recent corporate strategies. If successful, this digital twin could interact with employees and provide feedback even when Zuckerberg himself is unavailable.

Broader Implications

Sources told the Financial Times that if Zuckerberg's AI clone proves effective, influencers and creators might eventually be able to create similar AI versions of themselves.

Zuckerberg is said to be personally involved in the training and testing of his AI clone. Reports indicate that as Meta doubles down on AI, Zuckerberg spends 5 to 10 hours per week coding and participating in technical reviews across various AI projects at the company.

Meta's AI Ambitions

In July 2025, Meta established a new division called Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) to lead AI research. The lab is focused on developing "superintelligence"—AI systems capable of performing tasks at or beyond human levels.

Beyond photorealistic virtual characters, Meta has also been enhancing voice interaction capabilities. In 2025, the company acquired voice AI startups PlayAI and WaveForms.

Internal AI Integration

Meta is encouraging employees to adopt AI tools to streamline workflows and boost productivity. Staff are recommended to use the open-source software OpenClaw's agent tools to design custom agents for automating tasks.

It's worth noting that in April 2026, reports surfaced that Zuckerberg had started coding again after 20 years, using AI-assisted coding tools. However, this initiative is separate from the AI clone project.
