
Manus and Meta are breaking up — less than eight months after the deal closed.
The company announced it's returning to independent operation, and for users in some regions, that comes with a data migration squeeze: any data generated after December 29, 2025 must be backed up by August 23, or it'll be deleted. Re-import starts August 25. Affected users will also lose access to Manus for two days, August 23-24. Backups are free during that period, so at least there's that.
The company is quick to note this isn't a security incident — it's part of separating from Meta to satisfy regulatory requirements in certain regions.
