Google Cloud just dropped two new vertical editions of its Gemini Enterprise agent platform: one for financial services and one for legal. They're the first industry-specific versions, and healthcare, life sciences, and other professional services editions are already in the pipeline.
The financial services edition targets capital markets and corporate banking. It packs a Financial Research Agent, 50-plus financial skills, and 13 data connectors, letting customers pull directly from FactSet, Moody's, MSCI, S&P Global, and SEC EDGAR for KYC, credit research, portfolio risk analysis, and bond issuance documents. Deutsche Bank helped design the Financial Research Agent and plans to roll it out across its corporate banking division, while CME Group has already started using the financial services edition.
The legal edition plugs into tools like Harvey, Legora, Thomson Reuters, iManage, and RelativityOne for contract review, legal research, citation verification, and regulatory tracking. Existing file permissions and case isolation rules stay in effect, and customer data won't be used to train Google's foundation models.
This is less a brand-new product and more Google bolting industry kits onto Gemini Enterprise. The underlying model is just the base — the real sell is industry data, permissions, workflows, and specialized agents. Google is angling to be the front door for enterprises juggling a growing pile of AI tools.
