Developer Theo (t3.gg) dropped a video detailing the absurd political infighting inside Google AI. According to him, the original Gemini CLI team was actively listening to community feedback and building a solid open-source solution. But then Google paid to poach the Windsurf founding team to develop a new product called "Antigravity," and all that work got thrown in the trash. The core people were pushed out.

Here's the kicker: Antigravity, the product Google is betting big on, not only wastes tokens by inefficiently consuming models but also rips off its direct competitor Codex at the pixel level. In the official demo video, you can even see a development folder named "Codex" accidentally left visible. Theo puts it bluntly: this kind of internal warfare drives away genuinely talented engineers, leaving Google to churn out soulless "AI garbage."
Beyond the toxic politics, Theo also took a sledgehammer to Google Cloud's reliability. He revealed that deployment platform Railway recently suffered a complete meltdown due to an absurd internal rate limit on Google Cloud — a limit that apparently nobody at Google even knew existed. He also brought up the 2024 incident where a major pension fund, UniSuper, had its entire cloud account accidentally deleted. Compared to AWS's stability and Azure's responsiveness, Theo argued that Google Cloud has no business integrity and strongly advised developers to move their workloads off the platform as soon as possible.
