ChatGPT's new Computer History tracks clicks, not screenshots

ChatGPT is done remembering you through screenshots. OpenAI has launched Computer History, officially replacing the earlier Chronicle. The old version used screen captures to figure out what you'd been doing on your computer; the new version drops screenshots entirely and instead logs clicks, keystrokes, shortcuts, and app switches.

Those records are organized into a timeline and local memory. Next time you ask "which file did I just change?" or "what was I working on yesterday?", ChatGPT and Codex can first pull the answer from that history. OpenAI says the new approach consumes fewer tokens than Chronicle.
