Apple Intelligence clears another hurdle in China with new AI filing
Apple Intelligence has completed a key regulatory filing in China, bringing its AI features one step closer to a local launch. China's cyberspace authorities released a new batch of registered generative AI services for mobile devices, and Apple Intelligence is on the list alongside seven other major platforms.
The new batch includes Apple Intelligence, Huawei's Xiaoyi AI, OPPO's AndesGPT, vivo's BlueHeart on-device model, Xiaomi's Hyper AI, Samsung's Galaxy AI, and Nubia's Doubao mobile model. All seven services were filed on July 8. Apple Intelligence's filing entity is Apple Technology Development (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
Filing is an important regulatory step before launching AI features in China, but it does not mean immediate availability.
