Apple Intelligence's Next Moves: Four AI Features Spotted in iOS 27 Code

Apple is cooking up at least four new Apple Intelligence features for iOS 27, according to backend code unearthed by Nicolás Alvarez and confirmed by MacRumors. These AI-powered tools are designed to work directly within system apps, hinting at a smarter, more integrated experience.

Visual Intelligence Gets Smarter

Apple is doubling down on Visual Intelligence in iOS 27, likely to support its rumored lineup of AI wearables—think smart glasses, camera-equipped AirPods, and an AI pin or pendant. The feature is set to gain two new capabilities.

One will let you scan a food nutrition label to pull up detailed information, potentially feeding data straight into the Health app. Another will offer to add printed phone numbers or addresses directly to your Contacts. Since Visual Intelligence already suggests adding calendar dates from images, this contacts extension feels like a natural next step.

Wallet Goes Digital

The Wallet app is poised to get an AI boost, too. It’s expected to generate digital passes from scans of physical items like event tickets or gym membership cards. Google Wallet for Android already does something similar, using AI to parse pass content—so Apple’s playing catch-up here.

Safari’s Tab Groups Get a Brain

Over in Safari, a new AI feature will automatically name Tab Groups based on the contents of the tabs inside. No more guessing what “Group 1” actually holds.

Now, a word of caution: these interpretations are based on code strings, so the final implementation might differ. We also can’t say for sure they’ll land in iOS 27 or a later update. But with Apple reportedly building a smarter Siri with deeper app integration for iOS 27, the timing lines up.

Apple will unveil iOS 27 at WWDC in June, with a public release expected in September alongside new iPhone models.
