According to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, Chinese AI company Zhipu AI has completed a 1GW data center that is now partially operational.
The facility uses only domestically produced chips and is primarily designed for training and iterating the company's GLM models. Zhipu has also built or operates multiple 10,000-chip clusters, each containing over 10,000 chips.
To put that 1GW of power in perspective, it's enough electricity to power about 750,000 homes simultaneously. Bloomberg reports this will be one of the largest computing centers owned by a Chinese AI lab.
