OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says we are entering the era of “the creatives” — those once-annoying aspiring entrepreneurs with startup ideas but no technical skills to execute them, Axios reports.
It’s the same logic as “I have a great song idea, I just need the guy with the guitar to make it for me.” “I used to think that was ridiculous,” Altman said in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. “But now we’re seeing an entire generation iterate on ideas faster than ever before. The economics of starting a small or large business has been redefined.”
Polls show most Americans believe AI’s risks outweigh its benefits, and data centers have become a bipartisan flashpoint in the midterm elections. Altman, trying to promote AI amid that backlash, wants to remind Americans that the technology also means opportunity. “This will be the best era in the world to start a startup,” he said recently.
