OpenAI’s Codex now turns screen recordings into reusable AI skills

June 21, 2026 | Source: x | Developer, OpenAI | 174 views 0 comments

OpenAI has added a new feature to its coding agent Codex called "Record & Replicate." It lets you show Codex a repetitive workflow—like filling out an expense report or submitting a vacation request—just once. The agent then turns that demonstration into a structured skill you can inspect, edit, and reuse later. You control when recording starts and stops.

The feature is currently only available on the macOS client and is optional. At launch, it’s not available in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland. You or your admin also need to enable the "Computer Use" permission to use it.
