Interactive Brokers (IBKR) is going all in on AI agents. The brokerage announced it's now integrating ChatGPT and Grok into its platforms, letting users research markets and generate trade ideas using natural language — and for options, futures, and futures options this time. This follows an earlier integration with Anthropic Claude, all available to existing customers at no extra cost.
To get started, users securely link their IBKR account to one of the supported AI platforms. From there, they can ask questions about their portfolio, spot market opportunities, or draft trading instructions. The new AI-powered asset classes extend beyond stocks and ETFs to include options, futures, and futures options. The feature works across Client Portal, IBKR Desktop, IBKR Mobile, and Trader Workstation (TWS).
On the security front, IBKR uses a "human-in-the-middle" approach. AI-generated trade instructions are non-binding drafts that land in a dedicated "AI Instructions" tab. You have to manually review and confirm each one before anything gets sent to the market. The connector is managed by IBKR, so no account passwords or API keys are shared with AI providers, and you can revoke access at any time.
