Nous Research has released version 0.13.0 of its open-source agent framework Hermes Agent, codenamed "Tenacity." The release specifically targets the problem of agents losing focus or giving up during long-running tasks.
The biggest change is the return of the multi-agent Kanban collaboration system, which was briefly tested in an earlier version and then pulled. Now it's back, completely reworked. The new kanban includes heartbeat detection, zombie process reclamation, per-task retry limits, and a "hallucination recovery" mechanism that forces agents to actually complete the tasks they claim — no more AI teams spinning their wheels on a shared board.
For controlling individual agents, the new /goal command locks the agent's attention onto the current goal, preventing distractions from multi-turn conversations. Under the hood, several durability improvements have been made: Checkpoints v2 rewrites state persistence with automatic cleanup of stale records, and ongoing sessions now auto-recover after a system gateway restart. The update also fixes 8 P0-level critical vulnerabilities, enables data masking by default, and refactors the underlying model integration into a pluggable architecture.
