xAI has plugged Grok Bot into X. When you link your X account, the system automatically creates a developer account if you don't already have one. Paid Grok Bot users also get a free chunk of X API credits.
Once connected, Grok Bot can search posts, read your personal timeline, check mentions, round up the latest on X, and view or manage your bookmarks. Getting X API access used to mean applying for a developer account and configuring API keys — Grok Bot now handles the heavy lifting.
Pair that with Grok Bot's always-on capabilities, and you can have it keep an eye on X over time, automatically organize trends, monitor accounts, or regularly summarize saved bookmarks.
That said, it's read-only for now: Grok Bot can consume X content and manage bookmarks, but it can't post, reply, like, retweet, or DM. The authorization page does ask for broader permissions, like managing lists and blocking accounts, but those actions aren't among the 25 tools the X plugin currently offers.
