Google is integrating Spark, an automation agent, into Gemini's macOS desktop app — turning it from a simple chat window into a local assistant that can actually work the machine.
Once you authorize it, Spark can handle the grunt work on your desktop: sorting every PDF in your Downloads folder into the right directories, reading local invoices and auto-generating a budget spreadsheet in Google Workspace, or even scheduling regular updates.
Another highlight is the upcoming remote execution capability. Down the road, you won't need to be in front of your computer — you'll be able to trigger Spark on that Mac from your phone, turning your desktop assistant into something you can command from anywhere.
