On May 26, 2026, the tenth anniversary of the Dedao app, the personal knowledge management and transcription software Get Notes is being renamed "Dedao Brain," shifting from passive organization to proactive AI agent interaction.
The Dedao Brain project began in 2018. It was first publicly mentioned in a letter on Dedao's third anniversary in 2019, led by chief scientist Yang Pu, aiming to build a personal knowledge map. Development accelerated after ChatGPT's release in late 2022. Get Notes originated as an internal meeting tool at Feishu (Lark's Chinese counterpart), launching a WeChat mini-program in May 2024 and a full app in November. Over two years, Get Notes reached 2.7 million registered users, processing around 9,000 meeting recordings daily.
The rebranded Dedao Brain adds proactive AI agent features like "Review," "Sprout," "Interrogate," and "Polish." The system can proactively mine historical records, point out knowledge blind spots, and convert colloquial content into publishable drafts. Dedao Brain connects to Dedao's ten-year library of e-books and courses, using users' reading and learning history as agent material. It also offers a Skill API and command-line interface (CLI) for integrating with third-party AI workflows.
With the feature changes comes a price hike. The standard annual membership rises from 199 yuan to 299 yuan (limited-time offer; regular price is 399 yuan/year or 49 yuan/month), a roughly 50% increase. Dedao Brain introduces an Expert tier at 1,999 yuan/year, offering eight AI writing roles covering topics, materials, and formatting. Existing users can transition to the Standard tier for free during their current membership, with all historical meeting notes and recordings preserved. However, because the price increase wasn't announced in advance and some promised proactive features (like fitness data integration) aren't ready yet, some longtime users are questioning the transparency and maturity of the product.
