Google's Gemini app has officially crossed 1 billion monthly active users, and CEO Sundar Pichai says it's the fastest-growing product in Google's history. It's also the 14th Google product to clear the billion-user mark.
The growth is still accelerating. In February, Gemini had just over 750 million monthly actives. That climbed to 900 million by May, 950 million by July, and then jumped another 50 million in less than a month.
Google also shared some product stats: 63% of users talk to Gemini with voice, and one out of every five interactions with Gemini Live involves the camera or screen sharing. iOS active users have passed 100 million, and Gemini now generates more than 150 million images a day.
Hitting 1 billion monthly actives doesn't mean Gemini has overtaken ChatGPT, though. Sensor Tower estimates the ChatGPT app reached 1 billion monthly actives back in May, and OpenAI says ChatGPT crossed 1 billion weekly actives in July. But at least by monthly actives, Gemini has now entered the same billion-user club.
