Gemini on macOS Gets Spark Agent for Desktop Automation and Remote Control

July 2, 2026 | Source: blog | AI, Google | 148 views 0 comments

Google is integrating a Spark agent into the desktop version of Gemini on macOS, turning the chatbot into a local assistant that can control your computer.

With permission, Gemini Spark can handle mundane tasks like automatically organizing all PDFs from your Downloads folder into different directories, reading local invoices to auto-generate budget spreadsheets in Google Workspace, or even setting up scheduled updates.

Another highlight is the upcoming remote execution capability. In the future, you'll be able to send commands from your phone to your Mac even when you're away, telling it to search for sales reports locally and extract data to email.

At the same time, Spark extends its connectivity. It now supports the open MCP protocol, making it easy for developers to plug in custom tools, and it integrates with popular apps like Keep, Tasks, Canva, and Dropbox. You can pull cloud files directly in the chat or turn scattered notes into to-do items.

Right now, the Spark agent on macOS is available in beta to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US first.
