What if you could build a video game just by describing it? That's the pitch from Astrocade, an AI-powered game creation platform that just landed $56 million in funding — and a high-profile chief scientist: Fei-Fei Li.
Li, co-director of Stanford's Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI), is joining as Chief Scientific Officer. The round includes a Series A led by Sea and a Series B led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from Google AI Futures Fund, Nvidia, LG Technology Ventures, Dentsu Ventures, and others.
Astrocade was founded by brothers Amir Sadeghian (CEO, Stanford PhD) and Ali Sadeghian (CTO, former Google AI researcher). The platform lets users describe a game idea in natural language, and an AI generates a playable game in minutes. Since launching eight months ago, it has amassed over 20 million users, 5 million monthly active users, and more than 140 million game sessions per month. Creators from 80 countries have built tens of thousands of games, with top earners making thousands of dollars monthly.
Unlike Roblox, which requires learning the Lua scripting language, Astrocade requires zero coding. The target audience is everyday people who have never touched game development — teachers, students, and non-technical creators. The new funding will go toward expanding the team, improving the AI agent's code and asset generation capabilities, and building out infrastructure to support global growth.
