Ant Group is reportedly testing a major overhaul of Alipay, integrating an AI agent called "Abao" that users can command via text or voice to perform tasks like hailing a ride, ordering coffee, or even buying mutual funds. According to Bloomberg, the redesigned app aims to break free from traditional menus and search bars. Beyond everyday errands, Abao can analyze personal income and spending data to offer financial advice and investment suggestions. Tencent is also experimenting with a similar AI prototype within WeChat. Both Alipay and WeChat boast over a billion users each.
