SpaceX has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Anysphere, the developer of AI coding tool Cursor, in a $60 billion all-stock deal.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
The two companies first partnered in April 2026, with SpaceX securing an exclusive option to acquire Anysphere for $60 billion. Had SpaceX walked away, it would have owed Anysphere $10 billion as compensation for their joint R&D work. By signing the merger agreement, SpaceX has officially exercised that option.
