Bianca Martin, former chief of staff to OpenAI's ex-CTO Mira Murati, is moving full-time to the OpenAI Foundation. She'll join the AI Resilience project led by co-founder Wojciech Zaremba. Before this, she worked on the AGI readiness team, focusing on emerging technology risks.

Martin joined OpenAI in 2019 and helped write the company's first deployment playbook. She also helped launch the researcher access program that accompanied GPT-3. According to an internal memo, that program became the basis for OpenAI's later red-teaming efforts.
The foundation is now solidifying its mission. Based on a March announcement, it plans to spend at least $10 billion over the next year across four areas: life sciences, the employment economy, community projects, and the new AI resilience category. The resilience program's first tasks target child AI safety, biosecurity, and independent model testing and standards.
The foundation's funding is also growing. Last October, when it was restructured, the foundation kept 26% equity in OpenAI's commercial entity, then valued at roughly $130 billion. After a new funding round in February, that stake is now officially worth over $180 billion.
Martin's move to a foundation valued at $180 billion signals that OpenAI is shifting some of its long-term social risk and safety work to its nonprofit parent.
