Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google have been talking about teaming up to create an industry standards body for AI, The Information reported on September 14, citing people familiar with the matter.
The discussions were already underway before Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called on AI companies Saturday to coordinate on testing and auditing the technology.
Earlier this week, OpenAI founder Sam Altman told employees at an all-hands town hall that he supports creating a testing and audit organization for the AI industry — but he argued that the big AI labs have to stand up a standards body themselves rather than lean on support from the US government, according to one person familiar with the remarks.
