Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is leading AI startup Prometheus, which just closed a massive $12 billion funding round. The company is now valued at $41 billion, with investors including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and Bezos himself.
Prometheus is co-run by Bezos and former Google executive Vik Bajaj, and it employs about 150 people. The startup is building AI models and tools to help with engineering and manufacturing physical products in industries like computing and aerospace.
Beyond R&D, Prometheus plans to raise up to $100 billion to form a holding company that would directly acquire physical companies that could benefit from its technology.
Since stepping down as Amazon CEO in 2021, Bezos has focused on his space venture Blue Origin and invested in robotics startups like Physical Intelligence and Generalist AI. He remains Amazon’s executive chairman.
