According to prominent tech blogger @synthwavedd, several highly anticipated AI frontier models have had their release schedules adjusted this week. GPT-5.6 and Gemini 3.5 Pro have both been delayed. GPT-5.6, previously rumored for this week, is now targeting mid-July. Google DeepMind, dissatisfied with the current state of its model, has canceled the planned end-of-June release for Gemini 3.5 Pro.

Amid the delays, OpenAI is moving forward with the launch of Bidi, a new bidirectional voice model, on the ChatGPT platform. It could become available to users as early as this week. Bidi supports full-duplex calls, allowing users and the AI to speak simultaneously or interrupt each other — a significant upgrade over the current voice mode.
