Factory 2.0 swaps coding assistant for enterprise 'Software Factory'

Factory is rolling out Factory 2.0, shifting its product from a coding assistant for individual programmers to a full-blown 'Software Factory' that spans the entire development lifecycle. The new system aims to connect requirements analysis, code development, testing and security, deployment, and runtime monitoring into a fully automated pipeline. When a bug report or user feedback comes in, the system automatically identifies the issue, generates a fix plan, writes the code, runs security scans, and pushes the update to production.

To meet enterprise complexity and security requirements, Factory 2.0 isn't tied to any single large language model. Companies can choose different models for different stages, or let an intelligent router automatically select the best option based on cost and speed. On data control, the new version supports bring-your-own-key (BYOK), on-premises deployment, and fully air-gapped setups, ensuring sensitive code never leaves the internal network. All code review and troubleshooting data stays local, feeding into self-learning and iteration.

For task orchestration, the system delegates autonomy by tier: routine tweaks are handled directly by 'Droid' agents, while complex multi-day, cross-business-line development projects are managed by the 'Missions' system, which splits work among multiple agents for parallel execution. Factory 2.0 is already in production at companies including NVIDIA, Adobe, Palo Alto Networks, EY, Wipro, and Adyen.
