Ex-Apple and Luma AI founders launch a real-time 3D world model you can play

A startup called Reactor, founded by former Apple and Luma AI core members, just launched a playable demo of what it calls a "real-time world model." It's an AI model that generates 3D scenes on the fly based on your input — no local GPU required. Reactor runs the model on its own low-latency cloud nodes around the world; you just open a web page.

In a demo released by co-founder and CTO Bryce Schmidtchen, a red sports car tears across an alien desert landscape. As the driver turns, the bumps in the road and a giant planet on the horizon are all generated in real time by the AI, keeping pace with the player's controls. The clip has racked up over 7.8 million views.

Reactor's bigger ambition is to turn video into "programmable software." Future AI-generated videos won't be static files you wait for — they'll be living worlds you can grab the wheel of at any moment.
