Elon Musk announced on X that xAI will be dissolved as an independent entity and will now operate under the name SpaceXAI, positioning it as SpaceX's AI product line. The announcement came on the same day SpaceX and Anthropic revealed a compute partnership for Colossus 1 — and the partnership announcement already referred to the project as SpaceXAI.

In February, when SpaceX acquired xAI in an all-stock deal, xAI told employees there would be no immediate name change. That has now changed.
Musk also said SpaceXAI's model training has moved to the larger Colossus 2 cluster, freeing up the 220,000+ NVIDIA GPUs in Colossus 1 to be leased to Anthropic.
