Claude's share function has a privacy hole. When users generate a public link, some conversations and Artifacts get indexed by Google and Bing — meaning any stranger can find them with a simple search.
What's exposed? Cryptocurrency wallet info, access keys, resumes, company files, and personal details like names and addresses. Some users even posted legal advice, political leanings, and intimate chats on their share pages.
Now, these conversations were always accessible to anyone with the link — but the links were randomly generated, and many users assumed only the recipient could see them. Claude blocks crawlers in its robots.txt, but it doesn't add a noindex tag to the pages. So search engines can still pick them up.
Currently, most results have disappeared from Google, but Bing still shows about 600. Anthropic hasn't said whether the issue is fully fixed. In the meantime, you can revoke shared links by going to Settings > Privacy > Shared Conversations.
