Anthropic is adding a "Record a skill" feature to its Claude Cowork office agent. Here's how it works: you perform a task while narrating out loud. Claude watches your screen, tracks your clicks, keyboard inputs, and voice. Then it turns that demo into a reusable Skill — an automated workflow you can invoke later without rewriting steps.
Previously, creating a Claude Skill meant manually writing a SKILL.md file and wrangling scripts, assets, and templates. Now you just show Claude what to do, making automation accessible to non-technical users.
Of course, Claude isn't the first to do this. OpenAI launched a similar Record & Replay for Codex back on June 18th. Both even use the same entry point name: "Record a skill."
Claude's version is rolling out now to Pro, Max, and Team subscribers. You'll find it in the desktop app under Cowork's "+" menu.
