Anthropic has donated another $20 million to Public First Action, a bipartisan AI policy group, bringing its total contribution to $40 million. The group advocates for greater AI transparency and stronger safety regulations.
Anthropic says that as model capabilities rapidly increase, so do the associated risks. The donation is restricted to policy advocacy and cannot be used to support or oppose specific candidates.
On the other side, Leading the Future — a super PAC that wants faster AI development and lighter regulation — also holds a sizable war chest. Ahead of the US midterm elections, AI regulation has turned into a high-stakes political lobbying battle.
